Last 27 January, instead of the usual trip to the skating rink, we went to Kirjurinluoto Island for another kind of outdoor activity, and of course, to get some chilly fresh air rather than just loll in the house. We haven’t been to this park since last summer. What is memorable about this park is that this is the first recreational park we visited when we arrived in Pori. We enjoyed spending hours here. This lush isle provides lots of activities for the kids as well for adults. It has play parks for the kids, nature walkways that are ideal for jogging or strolling, a sandy beach, a mini golf course, green grass for picnics, campfire locations, gardens, and summer restaurant. This park is famous as the concert venue of the international Pori Jazz Festival held here every July.

This winter is our first time to visit Kirjurinluoto again. The park hasn’t changed much as I see it except for the snow-capped hills and snow-covered ground. A hilly spot is inviting for a slide down its slope. We could see children having fun with their sleds. Our kids don’t want to miss the fun too. They’ve been longing for a more exciting sled ride not just in the parking lot yeah? So now down the slope they go:
